A
landscape of constantly changing colours. Driving along you
can see the change from the four national parks to the 133 kms
of sandy beaches and clear blue sea. Green fields stretch
in every direction constantly creating a different panoramica.

facilities on the beaches include open-air gyms, swimming pools
and watersports that contribute to the high quality of the coastline.
Abruzzo holds the European record for blue flag beaches. The
north of the region has large beaches with soft sand. South
of Francavilla al Mare the coastline rises, reefs and cliffs
appear and it is possible to scuba dive. At night the
coast comes alive with live music and good food.

The
range of ski resorts and pistes are ideal for all levels of
experience. With snowboarding, snowrafting, tobogganing an dog-sledging
being a few alternatives to skiing. Roccaraso is one of the
best known and equipped ski resorts in central southern Italy.
There are ski lifts and pistes relatively close to the village
(1236) but the best are at Aremagna Pizzalto between the plateau
(1500) and Troppe del Tersoro (2140) with 60kms of pistes.

Summer
entertainment is provided by local villages celebrating their
Saint. The festival activities include theatre, music, comedy
and fireworks.

Regardless
of age or needs Abruzzo has something for everyone. The cycle
paths, rocky cliffs, rivers and golden coastline are ideal for
all. Archaeological sites, museums, national parks and nature
reserves are available for those who enjoy nature and culture.
